Christ can be found in most, if not all of our Christmas traditions. But there is one tradition whose connection to him is a little more obvious than others: Christmas lights.
We hear it all the time, "Jesus is the reason for the season." But what are ways we can make that a reality in our house? How can we look at traditional Christmas cookies through the lens of Scripture?
Listening can have more impact than we realize. Not only does it affect our relationships in the here and now, but can also impact others relationship with God for eternity.
With the release of his album "Jesus is King", news of Kanye West's declaration of faith also went viral. This news has been met with several different reactions: denial, mockery, excitement, and skepticism. I'd like to break down why I believe his claims to be true and what I'm slightly concerned about.
When was the last time you really thought about how your words and tone are influencing those around you?
I think most Christians will tell you that prayer is one of the spiritual disciplines they struggle with most. I would be lying if I didn't admit the same struggle. I've read about or heard about many different methods of prayer, but I have a hard time trying to make them work for me. Even though it's only just now feeling like fall, I wasted no time making sure it looked and smelled like fall in my house. And these are the 5 main things I've used religiously since well before the first official day of fall.
Don't get me wrong. I love a good vacation. Whether it's spent at a beach, at a lake, or in the mountains, it's my happy place, away from the chaos of reality. What I don't like is the massive reality check that hits you when you walk through the door. Seriously, it takes me forever to unpack from a week long trip because I'm worn out and frankly, a little overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done.
I could try and analyze what brought this burnout on. It could be the crazy busy schedule during this last month. It could be my failure to get to the gym this week. It could be the fact that I haven't been taking my vitamins, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, etc. But if I'm being honest, I don't think it's any of those things this time. No, this time its more than just mom burnout, it's spiritual burnout. And it needs to be dealt with immediately.
